This frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of Boswellia serrata which is also known as Indian Frankincense. The trees mostly grow in the North Western region of India and belong to Burceracea family. The tall trees give a white coloured gum which is used to obtain the oil. When the gum is processed via steam distillation, the resulting liquid is called essential oil and when the gum is processed via carbon dioxide, the output is called CO2 oil. Historically, it has been used to create incense sticks hence the aroma reminds of temples and incense.
There is a long list of frankincense essential oil benefits but the most common ones include anti-septic, sedative and carminative.
