These qualifications make it a great choice for blister treatments as well.
It will help you in reducing inflammation and easing the pain. Use it to not just ensure infections don’t spread but also to alleviate the pain that comes with blisters.
How To Use Essential Oils For Blister Treatments?
Here's a simplified and practical set of steps to understand how to use essential oils for blisters on feet, hands and other parts of the body.
Make sure to read the safety guidelines also in the next section before you go all in. After all, you don't want to cause more harm by negligence.
Selecting the essential oil
This is the first and the most important step. Choosing the right essential oil means half of your battle is won. You can pick from any of the oils that I listed in the list above depending on the state of the blister and of course, the symptoms that you are facing.
Dilute it with the right carrier oil
This one is quite straight forward. Before you apply the essential oil, you need to dilute it with a suitable carrier oil. I recommend using castor oil or coconut oil for this purpose.
To dilute the selected essential oil, all you have to do is simply add 5-7 drops of it in 1 tablespoon of carrier oil. Mix both the oils thoroughly.
Your essential oil blend is now ready to be used.
Apply on the affected area
Before you begin applying this blend, you need to wash the blister and the surrounding area thoroughly.
Then gently apply this blend with cotton or clean finger tips.
Make sure you are gentle in this process and don't end up popping the blister. That's the last thing you wanna do.
Cover and monitor
You may now either cover the blister with a sterile bandage or gauze. This is completely optional.
Now you need to monitor the affected area for any further discomfort or allergy. If any of those signs show up then remove the bandage and clean the blister once again and if the symptoms worsen then seek medical help.
Essential Oil Blend Recipe For Blisters
While most of these essential oils are fine to be used solo (provided they’re aptly diluted), creating blends can sometimes prove to be more effective too!
This is in case you want to take the whole experience to the next level.
One recipe I’d recommend you to try out
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (you can pick fromcoconut, jojoba or castor oil)
- 1 drop each of tea tree
- 1 drop of lavender oil
- 1 drop of chamomile essential oil
Steps
- Mix the oils thoroughly to make sure you’ve properly diluted them.
- Apply a small amount of the blend around the blister.
- Avoid direct contact with the blister.
- Cover the blister with a sterile dressing to ensure it doesn’t get disturbed any further.
- Use the blend as directed.
- Avoid excessive usage as it can cause further issues
Precautions and Safety Guidelines
While essential oils are pure, naturally derived oils, they’re very potent. Improper handling during usage, especially on an existing health condition can end up doing more harm than good. It is imperative you consult a physician before using them and also ensure you don’t have any allergies.
